Service of the clothes of Baanke Bihari at home
Prannath Leelaamrit - Chapter 10
Haridas gave Devchandra the garments of Banke Bihari to serve. Devchandra respectfully placed them on a throne in his home and began serving them with sincerity.
Devchandra carried water on his head for service. If anyone's shadow fell on the water along the way, he would pour it out and return to get fresh, pure water before using it. He would carefully prepare various delicious dishes for his beloved God, but prepare simple food separately for himself.
When people saw Devchandra diligently performing household chores, they told his wife, Leelbai, "What kind of woman are you that Devchandra has to work so hard while you're around? You should be the one cooking, cleaning, and fetching water."
Then, Leelbai pleaded with Devchandra, "Everyone taunts me. Please let me do all the kitchen work."
Devchandra replied, "That's not your job. If you are ever distressed by fetching water or any other task, then where will my duty of service be? Since you don't have faith in my God, you can't serve Him the way I do. If I don't perform all the services myself, it hinders my love for Him."
In this way, Devchandra continued to perform all the services himself.
